From the rugged coast of Maine to the fiery volcanoes of Hawaii, You Are Home reminds us that every animal, plant, and person helps make this land a brilliant, beautiful sanctuary. After reading You Are Home, written and illustrated by Evan Turk, choose an activity (or two) to extend learning.
1. WATCH and LISTEN to You Are Home being read by author Evan Turk for SimonKIDS
2. Choose an activity (or two!) to extend learning:
- GO for a hike. Research different recreation areas, trails, and parks in your area that are currently open to the public. Complete the scavenger hunt
- VISIT the national parks virtually. Explore five National Parks virtually thanks to Google Arts and Culture
- CREATE an ode to your favorite park. You Are Home is ‘An Ode to the National Parks.’ Taking inspiration from your hike or virtual visits, create a piece of art. You might create a landscape using collage or a detailed drawing of a squirrel. Be creative!
Thank you to Evan Turk and Simon and Schuster for making this video available for use.
